REVIEWS

These are not only reviews or personal opinions about releases but also just descriptions. We randomly comment here some of the stuff we have and/ or receive, it doesn't matter if it's done in 2007 or 1992, and it doesn't care the format, so you could also find in the future just some gig review or mp3 release/ promotional stuff review.

"Victims Of Religion Split"
(CDr | 2007)

Ambolthue Records

Reviewed by Manuel (2007/04/25)

This new release is credited to Cadmium Wjiik and it refers to the collaboration between Cadmium Dunkel & Torstein Wjiik.

This album starts with a peaceful melodic 30 minutes long song by Torstein Wjiik made of static, slow, bass boosted sounds called "Why Hate When You Can Love", It shocks when after 9 minutes of non-rhythm is appearing an "acid" bass which gives more originality and rhythm to the song, that's the way this works, starting slowly and more and more different synth sounds are being added but always mantaining a slow and melodic line building a whole huge structure along the song which could contain 5 songs itself. Great composition but to add some positive criticism, maybe a little slow to begin things happening.

Cadmium Dunkel takes over from this slow experimental sounds started by Torstein on 1st track with a 3 parts work called "Trenody For The Victims Of Religion", at this point not much new elements found and It's staying static and quite absorbing thuroughly with some very good background ambients and some well worked out industrial reminiscences.

So the colaboration is justified when both do their own thing in the same context and to summarize, this whole is a really serious work with some delicate elements and a great feeling to it which should be well received.

This was Vanguard in its day and it's suitable to shock anyone with its originality, experimental improvisation using jazz instruments as well as electronics, some passages going thru industrial sinister fields but main of the work is exploring new paths starting from a jazz structure and using a surrealistic musical language, anything is possible to happen, like on a David Lynch movie you are hooked and expecting.

This Juan Crek's work is featuring his partner on the project MACROMASSA, Victor Nubla.

This white labeled CDr includes one of the most interesting compilations i've heard this year and this is dedicated to the danish scene which has strong evidences of being a very rich one. This is more into the electronic experimentals than the extremist noise, some acts are purely Ambient, Minimal, Anomaly, IDM, Drone, free-improv, Industrial and even Breakcore-Techno in the way of Aphex Twin as other acts gives the dose of Lo-Fi and extreme Noise somebody may miss on this.

One of the good facts on this is the easy you can get the info about the featured artist as this is including a little (cd cover size) folded booklet with words about them. Definitely, Stuff to chill with your mind and finding new sounds.

hese are the bands featured: Polarforsker, B3nny, Kapitalen Klash, Respirator, Noianiz, Prafix Aztech, Bobby Blitzkrieg, Rebel Inc, Dark Vibes, NxFxTxEx, Køns, Nand, Ellis One, Impael Ophir, Wäldchengarten, Hentai.

Of course, not a new release, but we just got some on our distro. This was a 150 limited edition and still available.

"Cadaverize Yourself 1 Compilation"

R.O.N.F. Records

Review taken from Hard and Obscure 'Zine #2 (Musically Incorrect Fanzine)

This is too much!!!! 10 seconds short of 80 minutes of total noisecore and messy harsh noise headfuck. There are altogether 27 tracks, the first 20 being taken from "Cadaverizer Spasms Compilation" tape 1994 (Cadaverizer Records) and the remaining 7 are unreleased material from the same label's archives from the same era. I don't think there's much point in going through all the artists. There are well known names such as Seven Minutes Of Nausea, Deche-Charge, Sonic Disorder, Yesmeansyes, Grunt and Bastard Noise and many that no one has ever heard of.

Obviously there is variation in both style and quality but most of this is good entertainment for folks with refined taste. In most cases the noisecore here is better than the harsh noise that's just too cheap sounding. This is still highly recommended along with all the other RONF releases. I hope to arrange an interview with the label for the next issue, by the way.

This great release for filling heads with sick shit is brought by the ecuatorian noise/noisecore label Mierda En La Cabeza run by Mario (Colico/Operacion Canguro/Sin Señal/K.U.U.A.F./...).

The first band Pure Noise (Brazil) are playing fast grindnoisecore with a gory touch because of pitched vocals, really killer sound quality, studio recording.

Brutal Noise (Spain) recording was done live, totally untalented awful sounding noisecore.

Colico (Ecuador) plays the extremely fast and violent Noyscore we are used to listen from them, totally crazy!

After hearing this you're sure that music must die as this is an amazing noiserock aberration. So this is the advance for some great CSMD stuff being released on 2007, be sure to get hold of it! Contact CSMD / No Fucking Labels about it.

Wow! These recordings are really from other planet, Mr Bizarre Alien refuses to stop making us trip thru forbidden places in the noisy and viral outterspace too awake breathing and confused at some dawn with gangel.

Quite droney / ambient stuff by The Earwigs with futuristic and alien feeling.

Slop Cake is a lot on the ambient vein on this split with also some about melodies reminding old chiptune sci-fi "B" movies. When going drony and ambient the thing is really experimental and abstract and bizarre when playing this music from (... where from?). 9th song "Toilet Trombone" is an amazing soundtrack for any surrealistic movie about futuristics and abnormal behaviours.

New good experiments came rolling on a wheelchair from these US nuts!

Totally experimental tracks by Sascha Müller arranging bizarre, odd and wicked sounds from this old classic synthesizer.

Really interesting recordings for all gear and old-skoolish sounds lovers. The tracks are really experimental and free but sometimes it seems the artist is making us follow some pattern or structure, specially on tracks 2 and 3, as first track sounds more as random sounds.

It's amazing the quantity and quality of the sounds Sascha arranged from this machine.

Great Noisecore/Grindnoise live recording by these ecuatorian animals! 12 songs recorded live 2003. Southamerica comes extreme.

Awesome spanish protest and very critic lyrics against the system and sometimes close to punk/hardcore songs parts.

On the cover you can see a police commando prepared to assault and saying "We are coming in the University!" and from the building some voive says "huh! and what about your test??"
